                                                            Lucky Dogs

Anyone who has ever owned a dog knows the phrase "Best Friend," because that is the exact truth. But, wait; in many homes our little 4 footed darlings take on the same rank as the children.  We all know how much we can spoil them! Let's see, they eat the same food as humans, sleep in human beds (or better yet have their own Gel Pedic beds that start at $199.00+!), they have toy boxes full of toys, they go on play dates, they get taken to doggie day care, they get to take many classes that are the equal to ballet lessons & sports, they get their nails done, they wear clothes and grow out of them, they get groomed to the hilt (at no small charge).  And yes, friends they do get married!

The only difference from children is that they do not go to college (at a tune of $25,000 per yr!).  Last year I would have included not having the expensive wedding, but just this past summer 2 darling little Chihuahuas were married in our downtown park! Even the City Mayor attended the event. The Bride wore a lovely white dress & veil, designed by Oscar Dog'lerenta.  The Groom sported a handsome tuxedo, and rumor had that it was a Doglce & Gabbana!

Hi my name is Zack, and this picture is in memory of my best friend and brother, Buckley, who passed away on 4/2/07.

My Heart is in Doggie Heaven with him.

Pretty in Pink, Oh Yes! Here's the adorable Ellie, the next Hollywood Glamour Girl to strut her stuff.

Ellie is a Norwich Terrier, seen here wearing her Prada Doggie ensemble.

Ever wonder what SORRY looks like?

Funny, I've never experienced this emotion with my Beagles.

The above Beagle is from an anonymous source, but sent to me from a mother of 2 Vizslas.

Billy says "I'm a Proud Therapy Dog"

Billy is a proud Therapy Dog working 9 to 5!

Hi, my name is Gumbo & I am a GREAT BIG dog, but I am laid back, man.  Don't tell anyone, but I have been known to be pushed around by small very tiny dogs (named Guido).  It must be some hang up, man, from my K-mom's up bringing. Oh Yeah, I'm a working dog too, but I don't do that 9 to 5 stuff, and I take a break every time a human wants to rub my ears.  I have a real way with da ladies!

The Not so Lucky Dogs

These would be the dogs (and cats) that need to find their person to pamper them, love them, and take care of them.   They will give you back a wealth of love and joy!  Unfortunately there seems to be more dogs & cats in this world than there are loving owners.  If you are looking for a 4-legged friend, please visit the Pierce County Human Society first; they have been in business for 118 years, offering dogs & cats for adoption.   That's a long time of caring for our lost and homeless pets.

Here's Kathy THE Animal Behavorist!

In need of Therapy, see Kathy at Bright Spot Dog Training!  Click on the link to her web site below.  You can skip the story and go directly to her web site, but you might enjoy the read.
As a very patient owner of 3 incorrigible Beagles, I found myself in need of therapy.  That is for the Beagles, and we won't talk about my needs.  I think everyone who has ever owned an unruly breed of dog has found themselves clawing at the walls about what do over Foo Foo's latest not so cute trick of poo pooing in the house.  Yes, my ever so sweet last Beagle, Maggie, was on probation, when I finally could stand it no longer; it was her or me!  I decided to call my vet, who referred Kathy Sdao, an awesome animal behaviorist & trainer, to me.  She first taught me some wonderful tricks to use on my dogs, and while she was training me, Barkley, alias "The Biker Boy," got into Kathy's purse and stole a large and expensive raw hide bone.  Now Biker Boy did not get his wrap for having a halo over his head, and I knew that Kathy's bone would never see the inside of her purse again, but I had to act like it would.  So, Kathy & I chased Barkley all over, but Kathy did not know at the time that Barkley was- not so politely -asked to leave his puppy training group because he was an incorrigible Beagle, but oh how that dog loved me and he was house broken in the snap of a finger.  He was definitely a keeper, with bad manners.  Oh by the way, Kathy's purse was not his first purse job.  Barkley could also run much faster than Kathy or me, and he'd been in the business of stealing and getting away with it for years now.
Phew, all of the above just to tell you that Kathy is a wonderfully knowledgeable animal behaviorist and trainer.  She is a great teacher to both the pet and the pet's owner.  Kathy is fun, my dogs loved her (esp. Barkley), and she provided me with solutions to the problems that I presented to her, and they worked!  Maggie is now a delightful member of our household.  Yes folks, we pet care givers (we all know who owns who here) need training too.  Just watch Caesar Milan on Animal Planet or ask Kathy!
